چکیده

Rapid growth of available geospatial data requires a development of system capable of autonomous data retrieval, integration and validation. Since agent technology may provide the suitable framework for developing such a system (as it can deal in a natural way with the distributed heterogeneous nature of the data) a problem of selection of the most appropriate agent environment needs to be addressed. In this paper, four mobile agent systems (Aglets, Concordia, Grasshopper, Voyager) are compared from the perspective of their suitability for this project.

Performance evaluation of SDIAGENT, a multi-agent system for distributed fuzzy geospatial data conflation

A rapid growth of available geospatial data requires development of systems capable of autonomous data retrieval, integration and validation. Mobile agents may provide the suitable framework for developing such systems since this technology, in a natural way, can deal with the distributed heterogeneous nature of such data. In this paper, we evaluate SDIAGENT our, recently introduced, multi-agen...

Multi-Agent Systems for Distributed Geospatial Modeling, Simulation and Computing

AbstrAct Multi-agent system is specialized in studying the collective effects of multiple intelligent agents. An intelligent agent is a computer system with autonomous action in an environment. This technology is especially suitable for studying geospatial phenomena since they are complex in nature and call for intertwined actions from different forces. This chapter describes multi-agent system...

Agent-based Integration of Sensor Networks, Remote Sensing, and Simulation Models

Understanding geographical and environmental phenomena requires the ability to observe, represent, and model the dynamics of entities and processes at widely varying scales of space and time. Spatially localized sensors and sensor webs can provide information about hundreds of physical, chemical, and biological properties at many time scales for specific locations or mobile entities. Remote sen...

Mobile Agent Platforms for Web Databases : A Qualitative and Quantitative

In this paper we present practical experiences gathered from the employment of two popular Java-based mobile-agent platforms, IBM's Aglets and Mitsubishi's Concordia. We present some basic distributed computing models and describe their adaptation to the mobile-agent paradigm. Upon these models we develop a set of frameworks for distributed database access over the WorldWide Web, using IBM's Ag...
